UK Single and Album chart action

Adele still reigns supreme atop of the album charts for another week running, and her debut album “19” has gone up once more, rising to number 2 yet again in the rundown. The Vaccines album debuted at number 4 which is more than respectable for a new band. The Overtones have also enjoyed a healthy rise, thanks to their turn on Dancing on Ice last week, moving up 31 places to number 5.

On the singles chart though, Adele’s “Someone Like You” has been replaced at number one by the latest single from Nicole Scherzinger “Don’t Hold Your Breath” after four weeks at the apex of the rundown. I was a bit disappointed to see Parade only just creep into the top 10 after being at number 5 midweek with “Louder”, but it should be enough for now for them. I am still surprised that Wiz Khalifa is floating around the middle of the top 10, having expected him to climb already, but that has not happened.

Surprise of the week goes to Wheatus, who have (for some reason) re-entered the rundown at number 35, with the seminal "Teenage Dirtbag", 11 years since it first came out. I love this song, and remember it from the first time round; I bought it on CD single way back when, and it is nice to see them make a return to the charts!

In homage . . .
