After it had been expected that Calvin Harris and Kelis would steal the top spot in the singles chart from Example, Changed The Way You Kissed Me surprised everyone today by remaining top of the pile for a second week, with the former slotting into the number two slot. Ed Sheeran followed closely behind with his debut single A Team entering the charts at number 3. A new entry from Tinchy Stryder and Dappy sees Spaceship enter at number five.
On the album charts, Take That return to the peak, with their record breaking Progress album, presumably as a result of “Progressed”, an eight track EP with the original album packaged in with it. That knock Arctic Monkeys down into number 4, with Adele and Lady Gaga remaining at numbers 2 and 3 respectively.
As for new entries, Paul Simon’s So Beautiful Or So What enters at number 6 with the Bad Meets Evil record ( a collaboration between Eminem and Royce Da 5’9”)Hell The Sequel entering at number 7. Further down the top ten there is some movement up and down between the albums from Seasick Steve, Caro Emerald (who?!) and Electric Light Orchestra. Strange one this week for sure.
Over in the States, Adele is still atop of the album charts (for the 10th non-consecutive week), with Gaga just behind. At number three is the Original Cast Recording of The Book Of Mormom (WTF?) and All Time Low debut at number 6 with Dirty Work (the other side of some albums from Ronnie Dunn and All 6’s & 7’s.
On the hot 100, Rolling In The Deep sees Adele still at the top of the charts, in front of Pitbull (Give Me Everything) and LMFAO (Party Rock Anthem) which, after 12 weeks on the chart has finally started to move up to the top part of the rundown. Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass climbs to number 10, but should climb further in the coming weeks; I do reckon it could do some damage over on our side of the pond too – it is currently at number 17, but it could still make it’s way to the top ten.
