NME Poll – Greatest Singer Ever

NME this week released the results of their “Greatest Singer Ever” Poll, having curiously morphed from it’s original billing as “Greatest Frontman Ever”. To me that is two distinctly separate honours, and therefore if the former is the true category here, I would indeed agree with Freddie Mercury battling it out with the likes of Elvis and Michael Jackson.

MJ walked away with the honours with Freddie coming in second, and Elvis in third. Had this been “Greatest Frontman” my vote would unequivocally go to Freddie Mercury. If it is the Greatest Singer, my heart would veer towards Elvis, although it would be very close between all those top three.

Going through the rest of the run down, it is pretty much everyone that I would have expected to see, and although nobody can dispute the credentials of Michael Jackson topping that poll, personally, he would have just missed out on that honour in my list.

It would always have to be Elvis. He was, without doubt, The King.
