Slipknot return

Slipknot’s appearance at the UK leg of Sonisphere Festival 2011 is likely to be one of the highlights of the entire calendar year, with a huge amount of anticipation for their return to the live scene.
Last night (Friday 17th June) Slipknot played their first show without their late bassist Paul Gray over at the Greek leg of Sonisphere.

Just over 13 months since Paul’s death, an 8 man Slipknot (fill in bassist, former member Donnie Steele performed Paul’s bass parts off stage), wearing their classic red boiler suits, rattled through an emotiona 14 song set.

The setlist was as follows:

(sic)
Eyeless
Wait And Bleed
The Blister Exists
Liberate
Before I Forget
Pulse Of The Maggots
Disasterpiece
Psychosocial
The Heretic Anthem
Duality
Spit It Out
People = Shit
Surfacing

Apparently, in a moving gesture, the boiler suit and mask of Paul was hung by the side of Joey Jordison’s drum kit throughout their set.

Their Knebworth set is going to be something truly special indeed.

Some fan footage of last night’s Athens show is below.
