Review - Bless The Fall - Awakening
Blessthefall return to the metalcore game with an absolute beast of a record in Awakening, which should see their star firmly in the ascent in the coming months. Sporting some gnarly artwork to start off with, the record is a relentless meshing of metalcore riffs, breakdowns, and most importantly, a sumptuous scream/sing vocal dynamic that works as well as ever.
The title track is an atmospheric opener, before the one-two of the blistering Promised Ones and Bottomfeeder kick things into a high gear from the get go. Save for the interlude of Flatline towards the latter regions of the record, Awakening is a flat out assault of the senses throughout, and ignites across the board.
I’m Bad News, In The Best Way is a beast, as is 40 Days, before the divine Bones Crew steals the show with one of the most sublime melodies imaginable, laced in amongst high octane metalcore brutality.
From start to finish, this is a damn solid record, and by the time they come over to our shores to support Asking Alexandria in early 2012, the scene could by theirs for the taking.
Brutal riffs, massive breakdowns, and yet some incredible melody merged throughout the screams makes this a very good record indeed, and one that doesn’t fail to impress on first listen.
Cracking stuff.
