So . . . night two of the Queen and Lambert fix takes place
in the exact same venue the following night, although this night spent in the
stalls/standing area, rather than in the first few rows of the balcony.
It is effectively the same show, a slight setlist variation
seeing May take on Somebody To Love in part acoustically, and letting Lambert
smash The Show Must Go On to a full band performance à la the MTV EMA
performance in 2011. With my mind still officially blown from the night before,
tonight’s showing is just as exciting and captivating as the first night’s
performance.
There is hardly anything else to say in respect of this show other than . . . WOW.
Following these two performances (with one final one in this
country to bring the three night residency to an end), Taylor and May need to
get Lambert on board for more shows – it would be a crime to end this run after
this most triumphant of runs – Lambert
has completely smashed it night after night. There is no one else who could
take his place, making him truly indispensable to the Queen cause right now.
He is the heir apparent to the iconic Freddie Mercury crown,
and we can only hope we see this inspired collaboration again sometime soon . .
.
Where words fail me, hopefully the photos below can show the
brilliance of what has happened here in the Hammersmith Apollo these past two
nights.
