Review - This Time Next Year – Drop Out Of Life

This Time Next Year’s sophomore record is an absolute pop punk banger, laced with huge tunes throughout, and which brings a stack of energy, big hooks and juicy choruses into the fray which New Found Glory would be proud of.

It sounds like classic pop-punk, and as a record, there are so many big moments that grip you from the very first listen. The title track, Better Half and Living Hell are a cracking opening triumvirate which brings you in straight away; reminiscent of NFG, a little Green Day, and those classic “American Pie” bands such as Sugarcult, Treble Charger, etc.

A perfect summer record, Drop Out of Life would sound pretty sweet blasting out of a stereo on long summer drives. With so much energy packed into this record, there is no shortage of energetic pop punk bounce, backed up with memorable tunes.

Matchbook is an absolute beast of a tune, rocking a driving opening onslaught, which bursts to life from the get-go, and possessing as anthemic a refrain as you will hear on this record. My Side of Town is no slacker either with yet another huge chorus.

All in all, this is nothing other than a really great summer record.

A very enjoyable listen.

8.5/10
