Review – Nicole Sjoberg – The Journey
Nicole Sjoberg could well just be the next big thing in waiting in the pop world, and with The Journey, she has put together a solid pop record which will be her big introduction to the scene.
She could make a massive impression as well.
Firstly, she is breathtakingly stunning (a model by trade) but she can also sing, with some of the songs on this album allowing her to showcase her talents fully. Opener Label This is a slick, well produced, R&B tinged electro pop number, which could well be a lead single in the making, with its commercial ambitions made clear with the rap that’s merged into the track effortlessly. The following tracks Xposed and Definition Of A Man also have some catchy pop beats, and are both good pop songs.
I Am and Showstopper slow the pace a little while still keeping the beats in the mix, after which the the album veers off into ballad territory. This part of the record allows Sjoberg to stretch those vocal chords even further and display her talents, before the beats return towards the latter part of the album. Overall it is a good mix of styles, and The Journey can easily be classed as a solid pop record, with an R&B edge.
Everytime I See Your Picture is one of the more epic moments of the record, and I Won’t Let You Die is a huge rock ballad, with a slight guitar edge thrown in for good measure. They are easily two of the albums highlights, although there are many which stand out as being memorable on first listen.
In short, we could well have another superstar on our hands with her, with the right promotion.
This girl could be massive.
