Review - The Hype Theory - Glory Days

One of the finest pop punk releases of the year comes from Brit up and comers The Hype Theory, on their debut Glory Days.

Although only 8 tracks long, the band really set their stall out as one of the finest pop punk bands in Britain, led by the cute and diminutive front woman Katy Jackson. She has a fine voice as well, and she puts her stamp on all of the numbers on Glory Days to dazzling effect.

Opener Hold Tight rides a huge chorus and has one of the most infectious hooks of the year, and is quickly followed by recent single Kid At Heart. The quality is high throughout, but the 8 set of tracks reaches a thrilling conclusion in the form of the outstanding closing triumvirate of He's Your Problem Now, These Are The Times and We Will Be Singing.

It gets stuck in your head, makes you want to listen to it again and again, and quite frankly, I cant wait to see where they can go and what they can do next.

Ultimately it missed out on a straight 10 out of 10 as it needs a couple more tracks to really make it feel like an album, rather than an extended EP. However, what Glory Days does is introduce you to one of the most capable and one of the most exciting bands coming out of Britain.

I really hope that they can go on and make a big impression in the scene.

Breathtaking stuff.

9.5/10
