Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, and might I add, not a moment too soon. It has taken what has seemed an age to get him in there, but he now takes his rightful place amonst rocks elite, in what is a much deserved accolade.
He pretty much invented the schlock rock genre, and perfected the art of adding theatrical stage shows to the likes of rock and roll genius. He has penned some brilliant songs over a long enduring career, the likes of Schools Out, Poison, Feed My Frankenstein, Bed of Nails being my personal favourites.
An icon in the game, who is looked up to by many, as the originator of the genre. Hugely influential, and countless bands have been inspired by not only his music, but his taste for the theatre when putting on a rock show. His live spectacles have influenced everyone from the Murderdolls, to Slipknot, Rammstein, and most notably, Rob Zombie, who is now blazing the trail for theatrics at a rock show.
We owe so much to him in terms of rock music, and to steal a line from Wayne’s World, where he made an awesome cameo, “we are not worthy”.
A deserved honour, a true gentleman, and a legend.
