It looks as though Adele has some serious competition this week at the top of the album charts with the latest album from The Strokes, “Angles”, pushing her for the top spot. However, it does look as though she will hold on strong at the top for a ninth consecutive week. To be number one for that long is unreal, and she deserves all the credit in the world for that.
She also looks likely to regain the top spot in the singles charts with “Someone Like You”, taking back her spot from Nicole Scherzinger, and it therefore seems as though she will be back on top of it all come tomorrow evening.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Gaga is STILL number one on the singles chart with Born This Way, with Katy Perry ft Kanye slotting in with the awesome E.T. (Extra-Terrestrial) at number 2.
Album wise, Adele’s “21” is still ahead of the field, and there is an incredible number 2 placing for Rise Against with their latest album Endgame. Selling around 65,000 copies I believe in the first week, their latest release has given them their best album placing ever, one better than 2008’s Appeal to Reason, and resoundingly cementing their place in the big leagues.
