Mumford & Sons

There was a great article in The Sun this week about Mumford & Sons. Having just won a Brit Award for Best Album, performing with the iconic Bob Dylan to approximately 100 million people world at the Grammys, and hitting the top 3 in the US Billboard album charts, this latest story showed that they are still pretty humble and down to earth guys.

Apparently they are due to play to about 150 people in the remote Highland village hall in Ullapool, which is usually the home of the local scout and brownie groups. That is brilliant. Apparently it is so small that they cannot use microphones, or even PA equipment.

They clearly relish the diversity of playing in strange places, and the intimate shows, as a complete antithesis of what they are used to, playing cavernous venues, which at times, must feel quite soulless to them.

An inspiring story, from a band with real working class ethics, and the fact that they are the first British band to sell in excess of 1 million copies of the same record on both sides of the Atlantic is incredible, and clearly well deserved.
