Review - Incubus - If Not Now, When?
If Not Now, When? is an album that completely lives up to expectation, from a band that have long since abandoned the essential tunes of yesteryear, and are (as they have been for a while now) plodding well towards middle of the road territory.
Incubus have seemingly left everything about their former selves behind, and that translates into pedestrian, boring records that once more fail to make an impression on the listener.
With the exception of Switchblade, the only track that has any real go in it whatsoever, If Not Now, When? is just an incredibly dull and monotonous record, which makes it hard to believe that once upon a time this band headlined arenas across this country.
With every single release the band are getting less relevant on the modern scene, and although their legacy will ultimately still be rescued by their early material, it is not unfair to say that these days, Incubus are just a different band to what they once were.
This is about as dull as it gets, and in a year that has seen plenty of awesome albums released, this really is an unforgivable trek into sleepier territory.
Avoid.
1/10 – for Switchblade alone . . .
