Review - JLS - Jukebox
Carving their own niche in the pop world, JLS come out swinging from the very moment their third record Jukebox kicks in with their massive summer no.1 She Makes Me Wanna (ft Dev). This is still a fucking awesome pop song, and one of the finest tunes of the entire year.
It is the start of a very solid and catchy pop record, where the tempo stays mostly in the stratosphere throughout. Do You Feel What I Feel? is a big track, before Teach Me How To Dance takes things up yet another notch with one of the finest hooks of the band's career to date. Latest single Take A Chance On Me changes tempo a little, but is still a very anthemic number, and it is easy to see why they chose that as a single from this record.
So Many Girls and Killed By Love are two massive highlights from Jukebox, whereas the likes of Go Harder and Innocence are perhaps a little limp to keep in good company with these massive tunes.
Never Gonna Stop is another storming moment, which makes an appearance towards the latter part of the record. Jukebox, as a whole, is a great record, full of quality from start to finish.
3D may have some suspect lyrics (turning you on like a TV anyone?) but you cannot deny that the band have come so far from their X Factor audition only 3 years ago, and they deserve all the success in the world. Jukebox is a terrifically engaging album, and works well throughout.
Jukebox is hugely enjoyable, and much better than I anticipated it would be as a record. Sometimes pop albums can be single heavy, and have a little filler throughout, but this is a great release, and the band deserve all the plaudits for that. This is exactly the type of record they should be making, and nobody can argue that this isn't a very good pop/R&B record.
8.5/10
