Review - Motionless In White - When Love Met Destruction

It may only be 6 tracks in length, but my god do newcomers Motionless In White make the most of it, as they merge blistering metal core tendencies with punk, goth, pop-punk and straight up scream influences to devastating effect.

Coming across as a mix of A Day To Remember, Asking Alexandria and I Am Ghost, When Love Met Destruction is a thrilling collection of tracks that sees their story as a band begin in strong fashion. The opening It's Hard To Keep From Getting Burned is devastating, with its refrain becoming almost prophetic as it bleeds that hook, "It's hard to keep from getting burned when love's like fire". Huge hooks, ferocious screams and brutal breakdowns see the band make an instant impression.

Ghost In The Mirror and Whatever You Do, Don't are heavy as hell, thundering with powerful grooves, and elsewhere, the band merge in soaring melodies to mix things up a little. Whether it's rip roaring chugga-chugga, or blistering scream, Motionless In White have everything in their arsenal to become a really big deal.

They may be a throwback to the goth scene style wise, but musically, they are right up there.

Can't wait to check out the full length.

8.5/10
