Review - Taylor Swift - Speak Now World Tour Live
I am pretty sure that I have raved about Taylor Swift time and time again on this blog, to the point where I suppose it is getting somewhat predictable.
That being said, a review of her Speak Now World Tour is going to be nothing short of packed full of superlatives heaping more and more praise on her mind boggling talents.
Taylor Swift is on top form on this, her first live CD/DVD combo, capturing moments from her worldwide tour from earlier this year (the very same one on which I attended two dates in Birmingham and Manchester respectively). That tour was simply astonishing, and the girl can do no wrong.
Recorded at various stops on the trek, this is, simply put, a recollection of live moments of the songs from her record breaking Speak Now album (my number 2 album of 2010). The highlights come thick and fast, and there is really not a lot to pick between them. The Story Of Us, Better Than Revenge, Haunted, Long Live, Enchanted; I could go. They are all truly stunning songs that sound heart stopping in the live arena.
It's nothing short of a masterclass from the girl. It is stunning from start to finish.
She even finds time to throw in a handful of cover versions, inspired by the music originating from the particular stop on which she was playing, playing versions of Train (Drops Of Jupiter), Kim Carnes (Bette Davis Eyes) and Jackson 5 (I Want You Back) numbers. Although a really nice touch, the main attraction is her, and she does not disappoint at any time.
Unlike the DVD version of the show, the CD only contains the songs from Speak Now, but that doesn't diminish the enjoyment of the collection in any whatsoever. Speak Now Live is a fantastic record, filled with huge, memorable moments from her live show. The voice, the presence, the endearing speeches to the crowd, and some of the most entertaining showmanship and crowd mastery, make this a phenomenal collection. She is so gracious and so cute, but my god can the girl sing, and sing in an effortless and note perfect fashion, whilst holding a huge show together on her own.
Breathtaking.
She is a superstar, and this is her at the top of her game.
