Review - Lamb Of God – Resolution

 Lamb of God’s seventh studio album, Resolution, is as reliable as you would expect from the Virginia metal masters, but having said that, ultimately feels somewhat underwhelming on first listen. It is solid from front to back, with vicious guitars, punishing and relentless drumming and the schizophrenic and guttural drawls of frontman Randy Blythe all on point, but it just feels distinctively forgettable.

It is everything you would want from a Lamb of God, and it is a brutal as you could wish for; there will be no shortage of pit anthems drawn from this in their live performances, but ultimately, it doesn’t feel as though there are any standout hits that can stand toe to toe with their biggest anthems in  their back catalogue.

You can’t complain about it though, as it does everything that it says on the tin. Lamb of God are still in blistering form, executing each note with sheer perfection and sheer class, like only they can. It is resolutely Lamb of God at their strongest, but Resolution just doesn’t seem to have the staying power you might want.

Without a doubt, it will be considered to be one of the best metal records of the year, but for me, this was solid, if unspectacular.

Still, it’s a fucking beast of a record.
