Review - Motionless In White - Creatures

After a blistering EP, Motionless In White return in brutal fashion with debut full length Creatures allowing them to once more flex their goth-tinged metalcore mayhem to the massive, to devastating effect.

Huge walls of sound, sickening blast beats and guitar riffs that crunch throughout, Creatures is the sound of a band coming out of the blocks and sounding as though they have a point to prove; a point that will undoubtedly be proven in a destructive and memorable fashion.

The vocal pairing of the guttural screams and the saccharine soaked soaring clean vocals works well once again, but at it’s most basic, Creatures is a lesson in sonic brutality once more, with screamo influences laced throughout.

Walking a path that takes influence from the likes of Underoath, Aiden, A Day To Remember and Everytime I Die in varying measure, these boys could have a really bright future in front of them, and could well find themselves leading the renaissance of screamo and metalcore sounds into the new year. Along with the likes of Asking Alexandria and Blessthefall, there is a real market for this sound right now, and they could go far.

Cobwebs is the undoubted highlight of a ferocious set of tracks, with Count Choculitus coming closely behind.

It’s all pretty solid though, and very heavy, purpose built for an explosive and bone shattering response from the massive in the live environment.

Keep an eye on these, as they could be about to make a weighty splash onto the scene.

8/10
