Review - PJ Harvey - Let England Shake!

An album that has captured the imagination of the UK music fans it seems, powering to the top of many end of year lists with ease, even scooping this year’s Mercury Music Prize out of the grasp of Adele in the process, part of me really expected something quite special from Let England Shake!

However, from the very moment I put it on, to the point where I gave up skipping through the tracks, it seemed like nothing more than a relentless, insufferable dirge, laced over alt-folk music, in a rather insipid and uninspiring fashion.

There was nothing of any real note that suggested it worthy of the critical acclaim and the plaudits that it has received over the course of the last few months.

Perplexed just doesn’t even do it justice right now.

What an appalling, appalling album. Next . . .
