So, admittedly, I'm probably the wrong person to review the latest Pitbull
album without a huge chunk of bias working it's way into the prose; Pitbull is
a bit of a don, and over the past few years has dropped some massive hits, and
some inspired guest slots, to more than justify his billing as "Mr
Worldwide" and one of the best in the game.
Planet Pit is his sixth studio album, and the second to achieve mainstream acclaim off the back of some massive hits. This record is no different, with the pick of the bunch being the two lead singles, Give Me Everything and International Love. Both a huge numbers, and some of the best tracks to have been released in the last 12 to 18 months.
There are guest spots galore, with every track pretty much seeing Pit collaborate with some of the biggest names in the industry; there is a plethora of A-List acts (Chris Brown, NeYo, Guetta, Ludacris, Sean Paul, Kelly Rowland, Marc Anthony, to name but a few) all having a big influence on the record.
It is not solid gold hits throughout, but when it's good, it's damn near incredible. Mr 305 did indeed take it worldwide, and Planet Pit shows the extent of his pulling power in bringing in the big hitters. He's no slacker either as his trademark ditties and his usual lyrical content are present throughout, with some of the best wordplay and puns you will hear all year.
It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the man throws down hard, and makes Planet Pit a cracking listen. With a few duff tracks thrown in (particularly Pause) it is not a flawless record by far, but it is a blast for sure
