Review - Twin Atlantic - Free

Aiming for the stratosphere with their follow up debut full length (to follow on from their 2009 debut mini 9 track album), Twin Atlantic hit the jackpot with Free, as they showcase just what they are capable of, and fully justify their billing as the heirs apparent to the alt rock crown currently held by fellow Scots Biffy Clyro. 

What is evident throughout on Free is the quality of the songcraft,and the wonderous way in  which their vocals capture your imagination over huge melodies and great hooks. It is massively accessible, but still keeps their sound rock and true to who they are. 

Biffy may well be leagues ahead, but Twin Atlantic show that with Free, they are well on their way to giving the Ayr-shire trio some serious competition.

The opening one two of Edit Me and Time For You To Stand Up are big, but it is on the likes of Free and their enormous Make A Beast Of Myself, where they take things to the next level ,and prove that they are ready to take the step up to the big leagues. Perfectly crafted alt rock gems, these are the tracks that will define their rise to prominence, and which have seen them transcend the toilet circuit for bigger venues altogether. 

Elsewhere on Free, the likes of The Ghost of Eddie, We Want Better Man, and Eight Days are great rocked up tracks which hit the spot, slotting in around an awe-inspiringly epic Wonder Sleeps Here, showcasing yet another facet to their abilities. 

If Free is a taster of what's to come, Twin Atlantic could be on the verge of something very special indeed.
